‘Kramnik 5.0’ EP

‘Kramnik 5.0’ is included in the album as a 4-track release, including a re-edit of the first EP. Lead track ‘Flex’ is quite a minimal and mysterious undertaking because it incorporates authentic whale recordings. Kramnik is known to mix real nature sounds, and this time the results is an intriguing piece of minimal diving, that draws you to the dancefloor through these hypnotic sounds. Kramnik’s subtle use of humpback whale singing makes this track a force to be reckoned with.

The other tracks are re-edits of the first EP for the album: ‘Viclone’, ‘Hyksos’ and ‘Dlython.’ Since Kramnik started producing less than two years ago, he wanted to re-edit those first tracks in order to blend them into the album. If the original EP received great reviews, these re-edits should not expect any less.

‘Kramnik 5.0’ will release after the album, also on Kram Records.

‘Kramnik’ (ALBUM)

Most DJs take years to produce an entire album, but Kramnik has managed to complete his debut album less than 2 years since he started to produce! Quite amazing indeed… Kramnik’s much anticipated album, the culmination of almost two years of hard studio work, has now finished completion in a LIVE hour-long mix. Most DJs don’t ever manage to produce an entire album, let alone have the courage to mix it LIVE. But when an artist is as dedicated as Kramnik, and has a vision and a talent to develop a new sound, the results speak for themselves. Kramnik’s debut album not only demonstrates his ability to produce different types of electronic, ranging from deep to tribal, from techno to progressive, from minimal to experimental but, more importantly, his ability to put them together in a coherent journey.

The music press has been incredibly receptive to Kramnik’s previous releases. Klubbers.com said that Kramnik was “Simply unbeatable. A real piece of jewelry that everyone should hear. There is still hope in this thing called electronic.” And iDJ said “…with productions like this, it’s easy to see why Kramnik is so respected.”

With this kind of praise from the international press, who knows what they will say about Kramnik’s full production set… ‘Kramnik’ (ALBUM) LIVE will release in the early part of 2012 under Kram Records. Along with the LP also comes a brand new logo. Let us know what you think of it!

International praise for Kramnik’s productions!

“Loving Kramnik…Haven’t listened to this sort of thing for years. Perfect.”

David Atkinson (M-Audio)

“A real brain crusher. It’s dark, languorous beat will definitely get any progressive fan off the floor. During its eight and a half minutes, the track cranks up the temperature to those very psychedelic limits, eventually bringing you back to the overpowering beat, which completes the head-spinning session. This release will have no problem finding its place on the genre’s playlists, besides killer releases by people like Stephan Bodzin, Chloé, and Steve Bug.”

Be-Dance.be

“A well-programmed and thoroughly cohesive trip through the finest tech cuts of the moment. Bubbling with deep progressive ambience and swirling bass-driven energy, it jumped out at us…”

DJ Mag (“Top Pick”)

“Nice blend of dark ambiance and funky grooves. Excellent progression and flawlessly put together. Very good stuff indeed!”

Harderfaster.net

“Nice and trippy “

Mixmag

“I haven’t heard such a large slice of quality dark progressive tech energy since Moshic came to fame on the DJ Mag World Series covermount back in 2003… Here’s hoping Kramnik can carve an underground uprising of this powerful deep side of progressive house.”

Simon Hart (Pioneer)

“You know what? Kramnik sounds pretty slammin!”

Emily Tan, Sirius Radio (mix aired to 39 million listeners in the United States)

“Really smooth processing considering its all live, kind of a half way point between ambient and tech which is interesting to hear.”

Esper-magagazine.com

“Very nice. Great selection of tracks taking in a lot of influences and I really like how he goes from light to dark throughout. Very cool.”

Inhale.co.uk

“A proper, late night progressive chugger, beautifully produced by the highly respected Kramnik. Loads of atmosphere and great big, cyclic bassline make this a pretty intense and trippy track. It doesn’t do much except creep up on you with its subtly funky groove Kramnik has already established quite a following in Europe and with productions like this, it’s easy to see why he’s so respected.”

Jon Stones (iDJ)

“It’s certainly different from the mainstream dance. It’s worth checking out.”

Beatzbase.com

“Very well produced with deep bass lines mixed with nice trippy sounds.”

Xpressdjs.co.uk

“Like the deep techy sound…”

Ourhousemag.com

“Mixing was tight, lovely rolling grooves and a good progression… a very enjoyable mix.”

Datatransmission

“Since we don’t know the story, and we don’t know who he is, and based on one of the best, if not probably the best EP we’ve listened to this year, because of its complexity, because of its sound, because of its harmonies, because of its mixture of impossible elements, because of its artistic approach to electronic music, moving between progressive house and techno, with unheard of touches, because of its courage in sampling the voice of a 1954 recording by Howlin’ Wolf, and because of its bold and daring sound, all I can say is that this is simply unbeatable. A real piece of jewelry that everyone should listen to and see that there is still hope in this thing called electronic music.”

4.0

‘Kramnik 4.0’ EP

In ‘Kramnik 4.0’, boundary-pushing producer Kramnik returns with two more tracks that represent a hefty slice of creativity. Opening track ‘Harmuk’ features a real harmonica recorded by Kramnik himself, and which spreads out the chords in a major-key overture that would be an incredible accompaniment to a sunrise.

‘Pangea’ is genuinely frightening and wouldn’t be out of place as the soundtrack to a futuristic horror movie. Eerie samples glide like ghosts in and out of a taught, dark track and the listener is drawn almost unwillingly to their speakers to try and decipher the multiple layers and identify the monsters lurking within.

This releases are a precursor to an incredibly exciting piece of news. Kramnik’s first full-length album is now complete and is to be released in the early part of 2012. This eagerly awaited record will also be released on Kram Records.

‘Kramnik 1.0’ EP

In stereotypical subtle yet spectacular style, Kramnik delivers his delicious three-track EP ‘Kramnik 1.0’ (plus a masterpiece bonus!). Sampling bagpipes, owls, real violins, real harmonicas and kettledrums which – if nothing else – shows off the immense innate talent of this rising DJ/producer which has already been picked up by the worlds dance rag.

Dark, haunting and spatial, ‘Viclone’ is a techno working out of kettledrums, real violins and the afore-mentioned owl. Gradual filter-passed percussion loops place emphasis on the airy backdrop, submersing the listener into gradual nocturnal hypnosis right until the final drop flashes back into the original groove.

‘Hyksos’ is the definitive confirmation of Kramnik’s unique, dark, musically rich and sophisticated style, which has gained the attention of the world-wide press. If the industry was waiting for a new progressive wonder, different to all the others and new to the open mind, it seems the eagle has finally landed.

Born out of 30 different CDs of bagpipes harvested from a trip to the Scottish Highlands, ‘Dlython’ generates a smooth, progressive sound. With bass heavy techno sounds grounding the bottom of the track out into fine dust, pushing a moody, introverted and solid sound with an organic feel that uplifts and permeates in equal measure. The thumping, rounded kick drum mixes with the ambient sounds to create this foreboding hybrid monster, easily enjoyed in many circumstances and opening up the creative and musical possibilities of electronic music into the atmosphere.

And finally, a one-minute classical masterpiece bonus by the name of ‘SwanTrack’. In case you had any doubts on the depth and talent of this artist, just listen to this short suspenseful soundtrack and you will see why he is different.

Even though not in the EP, ‘BPM Blues’ makes fierce use of a 1954 classic Howlin’ Wolf sample, a result quite unlike anything blues fans could have possibly dreamt up. Understated snippets of harmonica and vocals laid down by Kramnik himself douse the track in wild western tones, all perfectly timed to a call and response groove.

‘Kramnik 1.0’ has been followed by three remix EPs. ‘Viclone’ (Remix EP) by Hans Bouffmyhre, White Wall (Mike Wall & Franco Bianco), Tvardovsky and Marco Dassi, as well as 12 different entries through the remix competition sponsored by LoopMasters. And another dozen entries for the ‘Hyksos’ (Remix EP) by another LoopMasters competition, and out on Kram Records.
